Social Media Events & Initiatives

The most fashionable night of the year is almost upon us — Fashion’s Night Out (FNO)! If you are out on the town in New York City tonight (Thursday, September 8 ) for FNO, give your high heels a break by stopping by the Lenovo Connections Lounge — located at Saks Fifth Avenue on the 4th floor — to grab a seat on our plush white couches and check out our brand new, powerful and incredibly chic IdeaPad U300s Ultrabook™, which was just unveiled last week. Starting at 6:00 p.m. ET, FNO enthusiasts, fashion-minded techies, style mavens and more are invited to our stylish tech lounge, where they can use the U300s laptops on display to blog, tweet, update Facebook or even shop online for more FNO deals. But here’s the best part: attendees can also enter to win one of five U300s Ultrabooks, which we’ll be giving away throughout the night. We’ll also be showcasing one-of-a-kind laptop sleeves designed for the IdeaPad U300s, created by young Chinese contemporary artist, Gao Yu, and haute couture fashion designer and model, Mary Ma. Here’s a sneak peek of the Lenovo Lounge. Hope to see you there!...

“Awesome events with no vowels in the name” for $1,000 please, Alex. The Lenovo Social Media team went the grassroots route Tuesday night, zipping up to GDGT’s New York cocktail-party-meets-tech-expo. At the venerable Altman Building on W. 18th Street, we helped product expert Ashley Perry showcase some of the latest Lenovo laptops and all-in-one PCs. And, of course, we met some great tech-obsessed people who were there to see us and other fine companies like Roku, Gazelle and Boxee. Our ThinkPad X220 tablet swiveled a few heads as we repeatedly demonstrated its magical ability to transform from a conventional laptop to a pen- and touch-enabled tablet. Our mocha brown model of the stunning IdeaPad U260 got a lot of notice as well—one attendee picked it up and basically wouldn’t put it down as he told us all the reasons it was the right laptop for him. Without question, though, the majority of the attention at the Lenovo booth was focused squarely on the new ThinkPad X1 laptop, the hero in many of...

We came. We saw. We basically conquered. We gave as much blood and sweat (thankfully no tears) as we could in a few short days. CES 2011 has ended—all hail CES. Lenovo arrived in Las Vegas on a huge roll—our market share rising, our financial results stellar and, as always, our products synonymous with innovation and class. Speaking of which, we introduced more than 20 products at CES—from ultraportable ThinkPads to majestic ThinkCentre all-in-ones and mind-bendingly innovative hybrid notebook/tablets—and we walked home with five awards. We hosted parties with partners Intel and Microsoft and friends from Social Media Club and GDGT. We entertained incredible bloggers and modders. We helped people unleash their inner goofball with our photobooth and our jackalope mascot. And we told our stories—as always—on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and our “Lenovo Live” blogs. Across 19 countries and in seven languages, we transformed lenovo.com into a remarkable Matrix-like "social logo"—it got more than 2.2 million views in the U.S. alone during CES. Finally, as is often the case, we felt the love from the press. From Brazil to Slovakia, Canada to India, well over 2,000 stories were written about us worldwide—and more than 500 articles were written about the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid/LePad...

Wondering about the “Lenovo Enhanced Experience 2.0 for Windows 7” tag on more than 20 of our CES PCs? Wonder no more. It’s a sign of improved Windows 7 performance, the next generation of our certification/optimization program that includes faster start-up and other enhancements for business and multimedia applications. Enhanced Experience 2.0 computers can include Lenovo RapidBoot technology, with optimized files, processes and hardware geared for quicker boot/shutdown. Some also have Lenovo RapidDrive technology, using an SSD with or in place of a traditional hard drive and combining with RapidBoot technology to give you even faster boot/shutdown and improved app performance. Some Enhanced Experience 2.0 models are capable of booting up in less than 10 seconds, giving rise to a $10,000 challenge from Lenovo. Our CES lounge features some of the fastest-booting Windows 7 PCs in the world; if you think your PC has what it takes to beat them to the punch (or to the desktop, as it were), then bring it in – all you have to do is boot it up faster than ours and you’ll win $10,000! Sound easy? It’s not; nobody’s won yet. On top of the fast boot/shutdown, Enhanced Experience 2.0 optimizations include enhanced audio and HD graphics on Idea products and better security and web conferencing on Think products. Come down to the Lounge and check them out!
