ThinkPad Tablet 2 with Optional Digitizer Pen
We gave guest author Michael Archambault a brand new ThinkPad Tablet 2 to carry around with him for a few days to get his opinion on the tablet that is redefining business. His verdict: the ThinkPad Tablet 2 wins the gold medal. With the introduction of Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 8, OEMs like Lenovo have become inspired to create amazing Windows tablets that can tackle work or play; the ThinkPad Tablet 2 is one of these amazing tablets. The new ThinkPad Tablet 2 comes preloaded out of the box with Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 8. While most other tablets in the same price range only offer Windows RT and lock out the ability to use Legacy applications, you won’t have that issue with this tablet. Having the full edition of Windows 8 means you’ll be able to run all the familiar apps from past versions of Windows that you have been used to; this is thanks to the next generation Intel Inside processor. In my testing with the Intel Inside Processor it was able to smoothly power the Windows 8 interface while providing enough power to run basic legacy applications on the familiar desktop. I was able to test the ThinkPad Tablet 2 with the ThinkPad Tablet 2 Enterprise Dock; the dock provides multiple USB ports, Ethernet, HDMI out, and a rapid charging port for the device. I connected the ThinkPad Tablet 2 to the device and used it with an external 22" monitor; while I was...

ThinkCentre Edge 92z
Why should you consider All-In-Ones? Pooja Sathe, ThinkCentre Product Manager From traditional towers to ultra small form factors, we have seen desktops evolve in technology, performance and design. Last year Lenovo introduced the industry’s first 1 L commercial desktop - the ThinkCentre Tiny. This unique form factor is designed to fit into places where traditional desktops never had a chance - on the wall, behind the monitor and under the desk. The whole idea of introducing this paradigm product is to provide a space efficient design without compromising commercial desktop performance. As business demand and aesthetics limit overall product footprint in the desktop segment, the most important product to consider is All-In-Ones (AIO). All-In-Ones are still considered a niche product. IDC data suggests that NA AIO market size will be 2.15 million/year in 2013 and 2014. This is a significant and almost 15% of the total desktop market size. According to this data, the commercial AIO market is showing a rapid growth of 13.1% year over year whereas the traditional desktop market is declining. To continue with this growth trajectory, it is important to address the apprehensions customers have about the AIO’s performance, maintenance and expandability. In the next few paragraphs, we will explore why AlO systems are a great option for desktop users and give examples of ThinkCentre This will be done for two reasons: First, Lenovo is ranked #1 in WW...

Guest author Michael Archambault recently tested the new ThinkPad Ultralight Cases. His verdict: A perfect blend of style and comfort - Mission complete. If James Bond used a backpack, it would be the Lenovo ThinkPad Ultralight Backpack. This $99 backpack from Lenovo combines Military grade Kevlar and Ripstop along with Carbon Fiber to protect your system during any of your missions for queen and country. The ThinkPad Ultralight Backpack fits up to 14.1 inch notebooks and has enough room to hold your valuables. During my testing of the backpack I was initially worried it would be too small to hold all of my belongings, but I was strongly mistaken. I was able to fit my ThinkPad X1 Carbon, A/C power cord, wireless mouse, on-ear headphones, ThinkPad Tablet 2, and my portable gaming device neatly into the backpack without it being a tight fit. This backpack is a modern day Houdini, it only has four zippered areas, but each has immense storage space that doesn’t even seem possible at first glance. The top zippered area has two padded areas, one for a laptop and one for a tablet. I have never seen a manufacturer design a backpack with a tablet in mind and quite frankly I am impressed that Lenovo included it. My Tablet no longer jumps around, but instead is neatly held in place. The top zippered area also includes area for charging cables. On the sides of the backpack are two large zippered storage areas that were able to easily hold the rest of my valuables...

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2
In the past, I used my tablet for simple web surfing and my trusty ThinkPad laptop for getting serious work done. But since I got a hold of Lenovo’s new ThinkPad Tablet 2, it’s changed the way I look at—and use—my devices. I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that my PC is now <600 grams and has 10 hours of battery life. I’ve been using it extensively and I thought I’d share a few cool things you can do with the ThinkPad Tablet 2. First a quick spec summary of this 10.1” tablet: it sports a dual-core Intel Atom processor, 2GB memory, weighs under 600 grams, has an active digitizer pen, a resolution of 1366x768, dual cameras (8MP and 2MP), HDMI and USB 2.0 ports, SIM tray, MicroSD card slot, GPS, WLAN, BT and NFC radios. (Full spec list here.) With that out of the way, here are 8 cool things you can do with the ThinkPad Tablet 2: 1. Install your favorite apps. The Windows app store is growing by the day. The ThinkPad tablet runs Windows 8 Pro so you can download and install any traditional desktop application along with the mobile apps available there. Anything you can run on Windows XP, Vista or 7 will run flawlessly on this tablet. 2. Charge/sync your devices. With the tablet’s USB 2.0 port, you can connect phones, MP3 players and other tablets...
