The Magnificent Mile - 2009

September 13th, 2009 is the date for the 4th annual Magnificent Mile, an event which benefits the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation, and helps fund research grants awarded to find a cure for upper motor neuron diseases. This is certainly a great cause, and one that Lenovo is proud to help sponsor.

Sunday's race will include both competitive one mile runs and a more leisurely recreational mile walk that I'll be joining in.  I've missed out in prior years, but having had the privilege of working with Jeff extensively this year, I've come to understand how passionately he supports this event which he and his wife Sarah Roberts-Witt, along with Scott and Amy Corsmeier founded in 2006.  He's won me over as a supporter, and countless others as well.

Sarah recently accepted a proclamation of September 2009, as Motor Neuron Disease Awareness Month by Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker.   Certainly a milestone achievement !   Hopefully this year's event will be bigger and more successful than ever.   To learn more about Sarah and her inspirational efforts, you might check out Terri Saylor's write up and related coverage in the sports section of today's News & Observer. If you are in the greater Raleigh-Durham area there is still time to sign up and join in .   Participants may register online through Midnight, Friday the 11th, and late entrants can even sign up on race day beginning at 12:30 at the event site

See you there!
