On January 7, Lenovo announced the LenovoEMC px4-400 network-attached storage (NAS) products for power users and business applications. The px4 products, available in a desktop or rackmount form factor, let users share and protect data and media content over their local network and over the Internet — using the LenovoEMC Personal Cloud capability.
For power users, the px4 products have up to 16TB of storage capacity — about three million songs or 400 full HD movies — that not only backs up your systems, but also streams media to popular players, game consoles, smart TVs, tablets and phones using the embedded media server. And, we didn’t leave mobile users out. Download our free app (Google play or iTunes) to link your devices and remotely manage your data or even play stored video.
For businesses, the px4 products are flexible enough to provide shared storage for up to 75 concurrent users. These px4 NAS devices can also act as a small virtualized server running VMware or Hyper-V. The px4 products connect to all of the popular systems found in business environments, including Linux and UNIX-based systems, Windows-based PCs and even some fruit company’s OS x-based computers (GASP!).
By adding a px4-400d to the network — either via local network or VPN — Lenovo offers a complete storage computing solution for small businesses and will provide:
- A backup solution for all your office PCs
- Shared file and document collaboration
- Video surveillance storage
For ease of use, all Lenovo ThinkPad, ThinkStation and ThinkCentre systems with the Windows 8.1 preload now contain the LenovoEMC Storage Connector (LESC), which “automagically” discovers any LenovoEMC storage on the same network as the system and provides one-click backup using Windows File History. LESC is unique to Lenovo, and makes Lenovo systems work best with LenovoEMC storage and vice versa.
So whether you have 75 users in one office or one “videophile” with 400 HD movies, the new px4 products from LenovoEMC protect and share your precious digital cargo. LenovoEMC makes your “Think” system storage-ready.
