Lenovo Scholar Network Announces NAFTrack Partnership and WHS Bowling as Fan Favorite App

The Lenovo Scholars Year One Finalists

Today at the NAFNext Conference in Anaheim, California, Lenovo announced an agreement to extend its partnership with NAF, a leading network of career-themed academies for under-served high school students. In this extended agreement, Lenovo joins an esteemed group of corporations, including AT&T, Cisco, JPMorgan Chase and KPMG LLP, among others, to commit to the NAFTrack Certified Hiring credential which promises high school graduates who complete academic and work-based experiences at NAF academies with a “NAFTrack Certified” special consideration through the job applicant process upon completion of their undergraduate studies.

This partnership addresses a national issue in the STEM skills gap. As technology companies become more advanced, they also see a major disconnect in STEM-based jobs with the next generation of workforce entrants. Together with NAF, Lenovo provides more than 81,000 NAF students across the country with an opportunity to pursue challenging STEM-infused coursework and access to Lenovo’s job network after college. This commitment, along with 11 other leading companies, prepares high school students to be better equipped for their future college and career experiences. Targeted to those from low-income backgrounds who attend large, urban schools, this also fills the gap to provide students with more STEM-focused educational resources that are not typically found in low-funded public schools.

This new agreement comes in addition to Lenovo’s existing partnership with NAF through the Lenovo Scholar Network, a program designed to enable the next generation of mobile app developers and entrepreneurs. Today, we are also excited to announce WHS Bowling app as this year’s Lenovo Scholar Network Fan Favorite app. Created by students at the Washington High School of IT in Milwaukee, WI, the WHS Bowling app is a mobile game that also serves as a platform to promote positive messages and behaviors for teenagers.
