While we know many of you might have just bought a new Lenovo PC or tablet, we also realize you still may have your old device around. Not quite sure about the best way to recycle or dispose of it?
Don’t toss it out! Lenovo’s trade-in programs not only make it easy to recycle responsibly, but will also pay you for many items that are still in good condition. If you’ve purchased a new Lenovo system recently or plan to do so soon, you can exchange your used electronics for a Lenovo gift card or check. It’s one of the most convenient, responsible and profitable ways to trade-in, trade-up or trade-out of old devices.
If you’re in the United States, you can take advantage of our trade-in program. Through our partnership with NextWorth, we accept devices from many major brands—from Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxies to HP laptops and Amazon Kindles—in addition to old Lenovo devices.
Here’s how to take advantage of the program:
- First, find your product.
- Answer a few questions about the condition of your old device to get a trade-in quote.
- Select your payment method. You can receive a Lenovo e-gift card or a check. You’ll need a valid proof of purchase for a new Lenovo device for the check option.
- Remove all personal data from the product you’re returning. (Note: Don’t worry if you can’t, NextWorth will wipe all personal data from your device before it ends up in the hands of other consumers.)
- Print the pre-paid shipping label, carefully package your item and drop it off with UPS.
Once we receive the item and ensure it’s in the condition described, we’ll send your payment, on average in ten business days.
What Happens to Your Old Devices
NextWorth reduces e-waste by re-using or recycling your old devices. Nextworth will evaluate the resale value of your device, and if it is in a condition to be re-used, it will be refurbished and sold to other consumers. This extends the lifetime use of electronics.
If your device is deemed to have no resale value, then NextWorth will responsibly recycle the product. It’s the simplest, easiest way to help preserve the environment and protect landfills from toxic materials that can leak from electronic equipment.
If you’re in Europe, you can take advantage of a similar program offered to small businesses in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the UK. At no cost to you, send us your old PC each time you buy a new Lenovo system. We’ll refurbish or recycle it and send a cash reward as a thank-you for helping us reduce e-waste. To get started, have the following documents handy:
- A copy of the invoice for your new device
- Serial number for the new device
- Bank account details
- Specs for the product you’re returning
Then follow the instructions specific to your country.
No matter where you’re located, the way we handle your used device is the same: We’ll ensure removal of all personal data and do our best to repair, restore, rebuild and put refurbished devices in the hands of new users.
Lenovo's Commitment to Reuse and Recycle
At Lenovo, we’re committed to a more sustainable planet. We’re leaving a smaller footprint with a big recycling program and working to get more life out of the products we create. In 2012 alone, Lenovo reused, recycled and responsibly disposed of more than 24 million pounds of old electronic parts and products.
You can help.
Through our global recycling program and partnerships, Lenovo makes it easy to responsibly dispose of old Lenovo systems, batteries and accessories. No matter where you’re located, you can find a convenient option by selecting your country on the recycling program page of our website. We even offer an Asset Recovery Service program for large companies with considerable quantities of products and data to discard.
