Happy 1st Birthday Lenovo Forum!

Saturday Dec 1, 2007 - I waited anxiously for the first new members to sign on and join our forum as we made our public debut. Would customers join, would the forum be a success? Within days, I realized my anxiety was completely unfounded. Membership and contribution have far exceeded my expectations. The forum is special to me, in that it represents a clear value proposition - that members will derive benefit through interactions with one another and with Lenovo - solving issues, sharing expertise and exchanging ideas. Forums date back to the old dial up bulletin boards and news lists. They aren't new, and they aren't what everyone is tweeting and plurking about these days in social media, but that's ok.  I believe the underlying value and persistence of relationships found in forums continues to be one of the highest value, and most enduring social investments a company can make.  While I think we are off to a good start, I recognize we are still in our infancy, and we must find ways to engage with more depth and frequency, integrate more customer feedback in our decision making, and embrace our community as a vehicle to accelerate the evolution of Lenovo as an innovative and exceptionally engineered company. So, I'll wish us a happy first birthday, and commit myself to making year two a least twice as big...
