This September 19th, marks the 5th anniversary of The Magnificent Mile Racewhich has raised nearly $150,000 for research toward two rare upper motor neuron disorders - Primary Lateral Sclerosis and Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia.
Nearly 2300 individuals have participated over the last four years, and I'm pleased to count myself among them. Although its fair to note that the top runners can run the race nearly two and half times in the time it took me to plod my way through. Last year, I promised myself I was going to get in better shape and try to knock two minutes off my time, but save for a few random sessions on the treadmill and stair-climber at home, I've not done much to improve my chances. All the same, I plan to participate, and would encourage all those in the triangle area who have some time on the 19th to come on out and walk or run the mile for a great cause. This event is a special one for those of us at Lenovo who know and work with Jeff Witt. His wife, Sarah Roberts-Witt is a co-founder and inspiration behind The Magnificent Mile race. Visit the site, learn more about the cause and it's history, and mark September 19th on your calendars now. Hope to see you there! (Photo courtesy of Carolina Snapshot)
