Gaining the Flexibility to Offer New Cloud Services

GUEST BLOG BY MARIO GROSSE, Cloud Computing Architect, MDlink Online Service Center GmbH

When our core networking infrastructure threatened to reach full capacity – we estimated that we had about twelve months to go – we knew we needed to do something or chance putting our customers’ environments at risk of unplanned downtime or slow performance.

Our experience with System x servers had been great, so we decided to evaluate the networking solutions from Lenovo.

After implementing two RackSwitch G8264 switches for top-of-rack switching, we knew that Lenovo was the right networking vendor for us and we quickly deployed G8052 and G8124 switches to expand and standardize our data center infrastructure. The scalability and reliability of RackSwitch products are just what we need to meet growing demand as we branch out from server hosting and start providing software-as-a-service offerings, such as cloud backup solutions.

As a result of implementing RackSwitch technology, we also consolidated our data center to a single vendor – something we had wanted for a while as it makes managing our systems so much easier!
