Be Transported Into The Wild with Tango and the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro

These days, rapid urbanization is leading to concrete jungles sprawling up one after another. But for once, let’s reimagine a world, where the animals can roam freely in lush rainforests. Impossible you say? Not anymore with “Into The Wild”, an Asia’s first harnessing augmented reality (AR) technology.

Held at Singapore’s ArtScience Museum, this exclusive event is jointly developed by Google, Lenovo and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). It takes visitors of all ages on an immersive virtual adventure, promising a whole new level of interactivity and engagement, by transforming them into an intrepid forest ranger.

Without leaving the concrete jungle, visitors can walk through the majestic Southeast Asia rainforest , meet an endangered Sumatran tiger face-to-face, and experience nature’s life force by planting their own virtual tree. What’s more, they can even donate to contribute towards WWF’s reforestation effort.

This, for Lenovo, is undoubtedly the future of smartphone AR! And making it a reality is Tango, a new-generation AR technology incorporating area learning, depth perception and motion tracking – letting users do more, play more and explore more like never before.

The recently launched Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is the world’s first Tango-ready smartphone. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor, which can quickly process all rich data received from multiple onboard sensors simultaneously, resulting in a faster and smoother AR experience

By delivering new user interaction and engagement, businesses can truly set themselves apart with greater customer experience and loyalty – potentially reshaping industries, from hospitality to tourism, and the increasingly competitive retail scene. Here are more innovative use cases:

With BMW Augmented, anyone can get up close and personal with the best offerings from the Germany car maker. For once, anyone can walk around a BMW roadster, step inside one and explore its cool interior without stepping into a showroom. Not forgetting the prying eyes of the sales representative, too.

What if I tell you Pokemon Go can still be significantly enhanced with Tango AR? Rather than a Snorlax plonked right smack in the middle of the screen, how about catching one hiding within your surroundings? This could make one of the most successful games in history even more immersive!

Today, personalization is more important than ever. Holo, a up-and-coming Tango app, lets users add and manipulate 3D holograms of their favorite animals and celebrities to the real world, effectively creating a customized backdrop for any photos and video opportunities.

Since debuting, the Phab 2 Pro’s Tango capabilities have been capturing public imagination at the Detroit Institute of the Arts’ Lumen exhibit. For instance, utilizing the smartphone as an x-ray device to reveal the skeleton of a 2000-year old mummy, and digitally reconstructing the gates of ancient Babylon.

Above all, this is another great example of how Tango AR is unlocking new experiences in cultural institutions worldwide, previously unheard of via mobile devices like the Phab 2 Pro.

There is no better time to Tango

This is just the beginning as more and more developers join the Tango AR community, creating a growing ecosystem of both paid and free apps. The future of AR is now, and accessible to all. Why wait?
